David Back was sure that he would never work as a food photographer. But after his first shoot for “Mat & Vänner” (”Food & Friends”, Sweden’s main magazine on the food experience), he knew he had come home. After the second shoot, he was offered a job for the same.

To be able to photograph food, you must love food, a statement that is certainly true for David. Through his love for food and his profession as a food photographer, he has travelled around the world, shooting some of our foremost chefs. Paul Boucuse, Daniel Boulud and the Roca brothers, to name a few. The majority of the Swedish elite chefs have worked with David.

David works fast, an appreciated quality when you work with still-lives in transition. Chefs are an impatient breed, and David is a cherished player in the kitchen. His disarming personality helps to relax people who are normally not in front of the camera.

After nearly ten years with Mat & Vänner, David is now turning freelance.
